So why Vegas? After all, we didn’t go to school there. However, there are many good reasons.
The Las Vegas area has lots of touristy things to do beyond gambling. Shopping is popular, with numerous area malls and boutiques in the downtown area or in resorts. Before COVID, there were lots of shows to chose from. The Hoover Dam is near by, as is The Grand Canyon. It’s easy to rent a car and visit either, or take a tour so someone else drives. Lesser known spots in the desert like Red Rocks and Valley of Fire are short drives away and offer really stunning scenery. You can hike or drive at these state parks, which cost a few bucks to enter. Spas are everywhere for a day of relaxation. And don’t forget the museums! (Yes, there are some!)
Las Vegas also has a variety of restaurants to enjoy. The food scene in Vegas has grown quite a bit. Whether you enjoy endless buffets or fine dining, there are plenty of choices. Many world-famous restaurants in NYC and LA have outposts in Vegas.
Las Vegas is centrally located for those who do not live on the East Coast anymore. We have scattered across the country, and getting back to Raleigh for a weekend may not be feasible. Vegas is roughly midway … I know, very approximately … but the airport is large and has many daily flights from all over the U.S. Generally prices are not expensive due to the abundant competition.
No matter your budget, Vegas has a place for you. Want high-end lux? Got it. Want a more reasonable room rate? They got that too. Not interest in fine dining? No problem, there are plenty of casual restaurants to choose. It’s up to you.
Finally, the weather is mild in late-March. Highs are around the mid-70s and lows dip into the 50s. It’s a nice break from a harsh winter.
Plus, Vegas is just way more fun than Raleigh.
