Dear Leesville Road High School Community,
After much thought, prayer, and reflection, I have made the bittersweet decision not to return as Band Director at Leesville Road High School. Following my maternity leave, I will be stepping away from the podium to stay home with my daughter, Faith Marie.
Becoming a mom has been one the biggest blessings and joys of my life. As I watch Faith grow, I realize how quickly time passes. I don’t want to miss a single moment of these precious early years. While I will dearly miss making music with our incredible students, working alongside passionate colleagues, and being part of this amazing community, I know this is the right path for me and my family at this time.
To my students — thank you for your energy, your dedication, and the beautiful music we’ve created together. You have inspired me every single day and have taught me more than you will ever know. To the parents and staff — your support has meant more than I can say, and I am grateful to have worked in such a supportive and vibrant environment.
Leesville has been a part of my life for 25 years – as a middle and high school band student, as a summer intern in college, and as its band director. This band, this school, this community, and these people have helped make me who I am today and it is truly a part of my family. Though I may be stepping away from its daily rehearsals, Leesville will always have a special place in my heart. I’ll be cheering you on from the sidelines and can’t wait to see how the program continues to grow and shine.
With deep gratitude and love,
Alyssa Colburn
