Lance (’98)

Lance moved to New York City soon after graduating college and basically never left. He’s lived on this lovely Island of Manhattan longer than anywhere else in his life. He worked in event, theatrical, and television production for roughly twenty years. Won an Emmy, traveled a lot, and generally had a good time.

After eight years at CNN “doing the lights,” it was time for a change and new challenges. Then COVID hit. So why not medicine? Currently, Lance is in school to get his Masters and become a Physician Assistant, and hopes to work in Emergency Medicine. He’s currently an EMT and works in Geriatrics at New York Presbyterian.

Melissa (’99)

Melissa moved to Las Vegas in 2005 to join the circus (opened the show Le RĂªve at the Wynn) and has loved living in Sin City ever since. After opening (and closing) Spamalot, she made the transition to a career in marketing. In high school she played flute and piccolo, designed the sound for several productions, danced, and acted … poorly. In college she played piccolo for the UNC Marching Tar Heels, while majoring in Theatre as well as Journalism & Mass Communications. Only in Vegas did those two degrees come in handy!

On a trip to Ireland in 2003, Melissa met a Frenchman (like one does) that through a long-distance friendship became a love interest. Fast forward to today, and they’ve been married for 16 years and have a son. As a family, they are Golden Knights obsessed and love all things nerdy. In her free time, Melissa still dances and acts… poorly, but not on stage.

James (’99)

James went to Virginia Tech, played tuba in the Marching Virginians and in several ensembles. He got married in 2005 and ended up staying in Blacksburg for over a decade, working on multiple degrees and generally nerding-out. Post-Blacksburg, he moved to Alexandria, Virginia to work at a small consulting firm for a U.S. Forest Service client.

James recently moved 5.5 miles to Arlington, VA (a trip that takes 30 minutes by car), and is an independent consultant for federal and non-profit groups, occasionally does improv comedy around D.C., and is working towards finishing his PhD in Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation. Ask him about his TikTok for his fat cat, Pepper.

Jen (’97)

Jen went to N.C. State for undergrad and grad school, participating in the Pep and Marching bands during her undergrad years. Some band pals worked in the IT department and talked her into a job working for the campus IT Help Desk. Sixteen years later she’s still at N.C. State, now the Service Manager for the campus IT Service Management product.

Jen and adorable kiddo

Jen eventually got hitched to a nearly-perfect guy and had a couple not-perfect-but-still-adorable kiddos. She’s a huge hockey fan (Go Canes!) and is holding onto a slim hope for a Canes v. Golden Knights game being scheduled over the weekend of the reunion.
