Hello everyone! I have really enjoyed keeping up with and seeing all who are on Facebook. Your pictures and posts of children, spouses, trips, and other life events have been a true blessing to see.
After retiring in June of 2011 I became the lead bus driver for the N.C. Symphony, which kept me busy with about 40 trips each season. I also served as their Director of Education, and even guest conducted a concert now and then. I have continued to serve as an Academic Consultant for Appalachian State University, observing and helping student teachers.
About two years ago, I stepped away from driving the symphony to focus more on being a Music Education Consultant. I work extensively in South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia and North Carolina helping school music programs. I have been active as a guest clinician and conductor for All County, All District and All State Honor Bands, and well as adjudicator in marching and concert contests and festivals. I also maintain a private studio of about 15 percussion students, mostly from Leesville Middle and Leesville High Schools.
Before COVID, I was very active with various jazz gigs around the Raleigh area. Covid gave me a chance to experience what true retirement looked like. So I deeply encourage all to get vaccinated so that, along with everything else in the world, in person music education and live music can resume! My wife Margaret and our
three sons are all doing well.
Looking forward to seeing ya’ll in Las Vegas next year!
